Why Your Facility Needs Professional Industrial Cleaning and Disinfecting Services

With the present COVID-19 situation and now with flu season in full swing, businesses must take extra steps and precautions for keeping their work environments clean, healthy, and safe. Whether your operations involve food processing, warehouse distribution, healthcare, technology development, product manufacturing, printing & packaging, or some other industry, professional industrial cleaning and disinfecting services can help ensure a clean, hygienic, and virus-free workplace for your employees and the public.

At Cleanstart, we understand that no two commercial facilities are alike and that each has its own cleaning and disinfecting needs. We will work with you to create an efficient and effective cleaning/disinfection plan specific to your facility needs while minimizing downtown to your operations. With the use of high-grade commercial cleaners, EPA-certified disinfectants, and state-of-the-art equipment and cleaning methods, we can help eliminate most pathogenic (illness-causing) microorganisms (bacteria, mycobacteria [fungus bacterium], fungi, and viruses) in your facility. When used as directed, EPA-certified disinfectants can help prevent the spread of colds, influenza, and other viruses, including SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19).

Eliminating Pathogens

A pathogen is an organism that causes disease and can be transmitted a few ways depending on the type. These organisms can be spread through skin contact, bodily fluids, airborne particles, contact with feces, and by touching a surface touched by an infected person. Cleanstart can significantly reduce the number of pathogenic organisms that can collect and spread in your facility. An effective industrial disinfection service plan typically includes routine cleaning and disinfecting of critical areas and frequently-touched surfaces by multiple people that need particular attention.

The CDC recommends that all frequently touched surfaces and objects by multiple people in the workplace be routinely cleaned and disinfected. Under the right conditions, bacteria can double their numbers in as little as 20 minutes. Surfaces and objects that are frequently touched such as phones, carts, keypads, doorknobs, handles, levers, switches, buttons, lifts, steering wheels, and handrails accumulate germs more quickly and need to be disinfected more often. Restroom surfaces should also be disinfected frequently because toilets, faucet handles, toilet paper dispensers, hand dryers, door handles, and trash receptacles are havens for germs.

Methods of Disinfection and Dwell Times

There are different types of disinfectants as well as different methods for effective disinfecting. Cleaning is the necessary first step of any disinfection process. Although cleaning will not eliminate pathogens, scrubbing with soap and surfactants and rinsing with water removes a substantial number of microorganisms. If a surface is not cleaned beforehand, the success of the disinfection process that follows can be compromised. Disinfecting works by using specific chemicals that kill germs on surfaces and different disinfectants target a wide array of different pathogens. The surfaces these pathogens inhabit also vary greatly.

According to the EPA, all products on List N kill the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) when used according to the label directions, which includes proper dwell time. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) defines dwell time as, “the amount of time that a sanitizer or disinfectant must be in contact with the surface, and remain wet, in order to achieve the product’s advertised kill rate.” Some products may have dwell times of only seconds, while others may require up to 10 minutes or more before they achieve their maximum kill claim. Using EPA registered disinfectants in a manner different than directed can affect the efficacy of the product.

Biohazard and Hazmat Environments

The COVID-19 virus cannot be treated with standard cleaning methods or standard janitorial contractors. Doing so risks increasing the infection rate and spread of the virus. COVID-19 must be managed by a company that’s trained and experienced in biohazard and hazmat environments. Our cleaning technicians have been trained in the proper use of cleaning chemicals and disinfectants, high-efficiency equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE) to protect our cleaners from the industrial environment they are working in, the disinfecting chemicals being used, and from the germs being disinfected.

We follow all current guidelines and recommendations issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the World Health Organization (WHO), and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

Electrostatic Spray Technology

We use a combination of hand wiping and an electrostatic sprayer – an effective tool in supplementing the everyday janitorial cleaning methods used offices and commercial facilities. Electrostatic spraying kills viruses, including SARS-CoV-2 which is the virus that causes COVID-19. It has been proven to kill 99.99% of viruses in a matter of minutes, making it not only effective but also extremely fast-acting. We use an EPA-registered disinfectant solution with a broad-spectrum kill claim (list N) against coronavirus, norovirus, H1N1, SARS, MRSA, swine flu, E. coli, salmonella, and more. The disinfectant leaves no harsh fumes or visual residue & eliminates odors (environmentally friendly, hypo-allergenic & safe).
