Commercial Floor Cleaning Services for Polished Concrete
Although polished concrete floors are extremely durable, they will eventually lose their luster if not properly cleaned and maintained, especially in high-traffic areas in your facility. Cleanstart uses the most effective and environmentally-friendly cleaning materials to get your concrete floors looking their best.
Routine maintenance for concrete floors consists of daily dust mopping to remove dirt and grime accumulation that can abrade the surface of polished concrete. Frequent wet mopping is also highly recommended. Although only clean water can be used, we recommend using a floor cleaner to suspend the dirt particles so they can be more easily removed.
High-traffic areas in your facility will require more frequent cleaning in order to maintain polished concrete. Our highly-trained cleaners use only neutral-ph cleaners on polished concrete. A cleaner that is too acidic or too alkaline will deteriorate concrete and dull the shine of the floor.
To prevent concrete surface damage, the correct type of floor pad must also be used. We use soft pads on polished floors to clean the surface without scratching or etching.
Diamond Impregnated Pads (DIPs)
Diamond impregnated pads or “DIPs” offer cleaning and polishing in a single pad and are regularly used to maintain polished concrete. The term “Diamond Impregnated Pad” typically refers to a non-woven janitorial pad that has been sprayed, dipped or coated with diamond abrasive suspended in a phenolic resin or form of latex.
DIPs can be useful in the on-going maintenance and rejuvenation of polished concrete. They are made in a wide spectrum of grits and sizes and can be run under auto scrubbers, swing machines, high-speed burnishers.
Polished concrete flooring tend to get dirty gradually and it can often be hard to notice when they start to look dull and dingy. You’ll be amazed at how much lighter and brighter your floors will look after only one cleaning.
Our high-quality commercial cleaning services for polished concrete floors can be tailored to the square footage of your facility, the amount of traffic your floors are exposed to, and a range of other factors.
Recommended Cleaning & Maintenance for Polished Concrete Floors
- Regularly dust mop with a microfiber pad to keep dirt particles off the floor. Soils act as an abrasive and can ruin the clarity and shine of polished concrete.
- When wet mopping concrete, always use clean water and clean mops. Use an automatic floor scrubber equipped with a nonabrasive pad to clean large square footage areas. Mop and bucket cleaning can be used in smaller areas.
- Use a neutral floor cleaner when wet mopping. Using water only will leave behind much of the dirt on the floor, where it will eventually abrade and discolor the surface.
- Clean spills and stains off concrete floors as quickly as possible so they don’t absorb into the surface.
- Make sure the cleaning solution you are using does not dry on the surface. This can be accomplished by cleaning small areas at a time and making sure the entire process is complete before moving on to other areas.
